Not Selected At This Time Issue Two: Dreams

January 2022

A dream is something visceral and vulnerable, vast yet pointed. It is something that demands care and attention, and has a spirit so palpable it begs the question: is a dream a living thing?

In this second edition of Not Selected At This Time, 15 women and non-binary artists’ work explores the concept of a dream as a living thing. They consider where dreams come from, where dreams go when they are followed, and where dreams go if they die.

Isolation Intensified: Art from Prison during COVID-19

May 2021

We understand what COVID-19 and this year of pause and panic has caused for us on the outside: protests and political unrest, time for deep reflection and silver linings, a disconnection from our loved ones. But what has life been like on the inside, where reality is already fragmented by distance and isolation? Where people are used to, or at least familiar with, living without hugs and kisses? This exhibit aims to show what this pandemic has been like for incarcerated folks across the United States.

Not Selected At This Time Issue One: Pause

May 2021

The space between an inhale and an exhale, a caterpillar in its chrysalis, a comma, a global quarantine: pauses in time to momentarily stop and go deeper. These moments are opportunities for us to rest, analyze, reflect, and perhaps change course. Relative to all humans, each of us embodies the ability to recognize pause as an opportunity for us to be more attentive to what is going to happen next.

But before we rush into what comes next, what is happening now in this space where the comma lies? How do we quantify the depth before an exhale? What is boiling under the surface of our collective emergence?
