Not Selected At This Time Issue 1: Pause
The space between an inhale and an exhale, a caterpillar in its chrysalis, a comma, a global quarantine: pauses in time to momentarily stop and go deeper. These moments are opportunities for us to rest, analyze, reflect, and perhaps change course. Relative to all humans, each of us embodies the ability to recognize pause as an opportunity for us to be more attentive to what is going to happen next.
But before we rush into what comes next, what is happening now in this space where the comma lies? How do we quantify the depth before an exhale? What is boiling under the surface of our collective emergence?
Not Selected At This Time is a digital publication exhibiting work by visual artists who are underrepresented in the arts by traditional means created, designed and curated by Olivia Juliet Taylor. Because we believe class, (and therefore white supremacy and patriarchy), should not determine an artist’s ability to exhibit, we vow to subscribe to a donation-based submission model, with no fees required by the artist at any point.
